FAQ / THE FIVE MOST FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS:

1) WHICH THICKNESS SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Swedish ice scraper® is available in 5 or 6 mm thickness. Both work well in all temperature zones however the thicker, and a little bit heavier 6 mm, offers better stability in the scraping movements = more power to remove hard ice (mostly chosen in northern districts or at high altitude). 5 mm is suitable for allround purposes and offers a little bit better ”flexibility” on curved car glasses - our best sold.

2) WHICH SIZE IS BEST FOR MY CAR?

Swedish ice scraper® is available in three sizes. The biggest Original size is better to cover larger glass areas. Midsize fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is more easy to operate on smaller areas and in tight corners. The Mini3 offers flexibility and -inspite of its size- effective scraping power. In fact, thanks to its shorter basewidth, it can boost more power through hard ice than any of the two siblings.

To summerize; all models works well for basic needs and the choice is more down to how harsch winters you have around and your personal taste for size, colors and handwarmers.

3) HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN-SCRAPE MY CAR WITH THE SWEDISH ICE SCRAPER?
The plough shaped upper side is perfect for FROST or easy ice, while the straight side at the bottom is recommended to be used -if necessary with both hands- on firm ICE (the right side can be a spare blade). You can also remove snow and ice from the windshield WIPERS by carefully pulling the specially designed slot along with the rubber blades.

Remove any snow and ice from the ice scraper now and then to make it more effective.

Use straight forward horizontal movements following the radiuses of the windows for maximal contact surface, while vertical movements are normally more effective on side windows.

4) ANY RISK FOR SCRATCHES?
Our ice scrapers are made of Acrylic Glass (Polymethyl Methacrylate also known as Plexiglas) which is hard enough for effective ice scraping but also have a softness to minimize the risk for scratches on hardened car glass, which is the standard glass in automotive production today.
You can also minimize the risk for scratches by being careful:
-use firm but gentle movements, don’t “scrub”
-watch out for dirt or grains of sand to mix with the snow and ice

N o t e ! Scraping on plastic material can cause scratches. Use this ice scraper on hardened glass only. Do not use ice scraper on headlight and rear lights glasses or if you have car windows made of plastic materials.

5) CAN THE BLADES BE RE-SHARPENED?
Acrylic Glass is a plastic material that admits itself to be reworked, so if your Swedish Ice Scraper loses some of its “edge” after years of use, you can give it new life by re-polishing the scraping edges.

Ask a local mechanical workshop or a skate sharpening service if they can offer diamond polishing.
